Reading You don’t have to read every great classic novel. If it’s not actually required reading, just read the SparkNotes analysis and see if there’s a CrashCourse video on it. If you do have required reading, classic lit is generally in the public domain and available for free on Project Gutenberg and other sites. If you prefer to listen, check out Librivox for free audiobooks. If you have to read Shakespeare, first watch Ben Crystal on Speaking the bright and beautiful English of Shakespeare. Then try to find a play or a decent movie version and refer to Folger Digital Texts for reference. Read the newspaper. Learn how to annotate. Read and write fanfiction. Help fight hunger while building your vocabulary at Freerice. Make learning vocabulary easier by studying word roots. |
